Stories

Share a post to your Instagram or Facebook Story

A Story is the picture alone: no caption underneath, and it goes away on its own. If you have already made a post and want its picture to show up as a Story too, Share to Story starts a new Story from that picture, so you don't have to download it and upload it again. Stories made this way are plain on purpose, because of what Meta lets a tool like Vusely send.

In short

  • Share to Story is on a post's page, for posts with a picture that went to Instagram or Facebook.
  • It starts a new Story from the first picture. The old post is not changed, and nothing goes out until you post or schedule it.
  • A Story from Vusely has no caption and no link, poll or location sticker. Meta doesn't allow those through its publishing connection.
  • Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours, according to Meta.

What you can do

  • The picture alone

A Story has no caption, no first comment and no tags, so Vusely leaves them behind. The picture keeps its description for screen readers. A Story goes only to Instagram and Facebook; other accounts have no Story.

  • A new Story, not the old post

Share to Story starts a new post from the old one's picture. The old post is never touched, and the new one counts toward your plan like any other post. Nothing is published until you press Post now or Schedule.

  • What Meta allows

For Instagram, Meta's documentation says a Story can be a photo or a video of 3 to 60 seconds, and that publishing link, poll and location stickers is not supported. For Facebook Pages, Meta's page allows a photo or a video of up to 60 seconds.

  • How long it lasts

Meta's documentation says Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours. Meta's Facebook Page stories page doesn't say how long a Story stays up, so check Facebook if it matters.

How it works

  1. 1

Open the post and press Share to Story

On Posts, open a post that has a picture and went to Instagram or Facebook. Press Share to Story. The button isn't shown on a Story, on a post without a picture, or if you can only view the workspace.

  2. 2

    Check the new Story

New post opens as a Story: the first picture, no caption, and Instagram and Facebook ticked where the post went. Meta recommends tall 9:16 pictures for Stories, and the form tells you if yours is a different shape. Then choose Post now or Schedule.

  3. 3

Add stickers in Instagram if you need them

If you want a link sticker, a poll or a question box, make that Story in the Instagram app instead. Vusely's connection can't add them. Stories made with Vusely are good for simple reminders: this week's special, a new arrival, the hours you're open.

When Share to Story is a good fit

It works well for a picture you want to put in front of followers a second time, or for reminding people about a post that is already up. Because the link sticker isn't available, a Story from Vusely can't carry a clickable link; for that, use a link in your bio, such as a link page, or make the Story in the app.

These limits come from Meta's developer documentation for Instagram and for Facebook Page stories, last checked in October 2026.

Questions, answered

Can I add a link to a Story from Vusely?

No. Meta says publishing link, poll and location stickers is not supported for Stories posted by tools. Make that Story in the Instagram app, or put the link in your bio.

Will my caption appear on the Story?

No. A Story shows the picture only, so Vusely starts it with an empty caption.

How long does a Story stay up?

Meta's documentation says Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours. For Facebook, Meta's page for Page stories doesn't give a time.
